New Dining Destination
Laguna Beach, Calif., May 11, 2018— The Laguna Beach Company has purchased longstanding Laguna Beach restaurant Tivoli Terrace and through Laguna Creative Ventures is creating a new dining destination, Terra Laguna Beach, on the Festival of Arts/Pageant of the Masters (FOA/POM) grounds. Opening this summer with help from the creative direction of [seven-degrees], Terra will reinvent the dining experience on the festival grounds for the thousands of seasonal and year round visitors, while keeping with the worldwide recognition, professional and artistic excellence that the FOA/POM is known for.
Terra inherits and embraces the innovative, creative legacy that was built by Tivoli Terrace, and continues the tradition of bringing authenticity and a truly unique culinary experience to this already innovative and artistic space. Tivoli Terrace founder, June Neptune, is excited for this breath of fresh air in the canyon. “For the past 47 years it has been an honor—and most of all, my pleasure to serve the thousands of guests that visited Tivoli Terrace,” Neptune said. “I wish only the very best for the new life and business at the location that was known as Tivoli Terrace as they begin what I hope is another 47 years of success.”
Going back to its natural roots in nourishment and entertainment, Terra feeds your body and soul with its unique and fresh food and elegant surroundings. The restaurant will offer artfully crafted California cuisine with seasonal ingredients year round. Mo Honarkar, C.E.O. of The Laguna Beach Company believes it’s important to embrace the local history of Laguna Beach. “We are so excited to be adding Terra to our vision for the Arts District and are thrilled to have discovered this hidden historic structure that is an important part of the history of architecture in Laguna Beach and Orange County. We are eager to reintroduce such a magnificent building to our community and look forward to providing the patrons of Festival of Arts/Pageant of the Masters and Laguna Playhouse with a dining destination that mirrors the level of excellence provided by those organizations.”
Terra will highlight the brilliant architecture created for the grounds in 1957 by architect Don Williamson in this new era for the restaurant. Architect Don Williamson designed and created the breathtaking futuristic hyperbolic paraboloid rooftop and many other buildings on the festival grounds, as well as more than 30 homes in the city of Laguna Beach. Williamson helped build the stature of Laguna Beach's annual mixture of theater and art, the POM, and was the Director from 1964 to 1978.
Although the exterior of the restaurant is updated to reflect a modern sensibility and aesthetic, Terra continues the longstanding legacy that Tivoli Terrace has built in the space. Naming the top tier of the restaurant after June Neptune — Neptune Terrace — is just one of the many ways Terra will support and highlight the local history of this amazing place.
The fare at Terra will be focused on creative, healthful California cuisine with a luxe style and artfully crafted cocktails and refreshments. This refined modern bohemian visual atmosphere will double as an event venue, with catering options and a variety of customizations for special events. Additionally, The Wine Bar will offer a variety of California wines as well as a rotating selection from local brewing companies.
