Throughout his personal and professional life, Mark Orgill has been drawn to creative endeavors with a particular interest in structure and development. He has created a successful career interweaving architecture, design, and the art of building through a variety of business ventures. Mark has developed an ability to assemble efficient creative teams and resources, provide inspiration, and nurture the talents of collaborators to turn dreams into reality. Mark has applied this keen skill to several projects in Laguna Beach where he has been a resident since 1984, and currently serves as President of Visit Laguna Beach and Laguna Beach Community Clinic. He has redeveloped a variety of real estate projects; he owned a custom furniture business, which led to a greater passion for building creative spaces for working artists in the city, including the student-housing complex for Laguna College of Art & Design. Mark has been working with the city of Laguna Beach for over 20 years to help create the Laguna Arts District, and designed, founded, and built the special event venue, [seven-degrees] with his wife, Dora Wexell. As a part of the Creative Class in an artistic city, he believes that the future of Laguna Beach must embrace the creative legacy that the city was built upon in order to have a fruitful and honest future.
Hasty is an impassioned entrepreneur and arts patron who has grown up in Laguna Beach and dedicated her professional life to help develop and preserve the unique culture of Laguna Beach. She is currently Vice President of 4G Ventures and leads the creative design team behind all of their projects, including Laguna Beach’s own Royal Hawaiian and The Hive. Ms. Honarkar was recently appointed to the city’s Parking, Traffic, and Circulation Committee as well as serves on the KX93.5 Circle of Champions Committee. In addition, she is a Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce Board Member. Ms. Honarkar has helped develop and launch well over 150 retail locations, including smart stores and an innovative multi-cultural concept dedicated to the bilingual customer. Ms. Honarkar is an avid art enthusiast and has been a long-time champion of preserving the inspiration of the culture she grew up in. With a passion for urban planning, business, and environmental studies, Ms. Honarkar is constantly creating development ideas and strategies focused on unique and meaningful experiences for businesses and destinations.
Dora is a passionate and multitalented entrepreneur, manager, and an avid supporter of art and artists. Currently, Dora is the Vice President and General Manager of [seven-degrees] and is continuing her lifelong dedication to the development and preservation of artistic culture in Laguna Beach with her work for Laguna Creative Ventures. A self-starter and dedicated creator, Dora owned her own business, Baubles, from 1987 until 2002, exhibiting at the Sawdust Art Festival and running her own brick-and-mortar location in Laguna Village as well. Dora has held significant leadership positions for a variety of non-profits including the Laguna Beach Craft Guild, Sawdust Art Festival, Laguna Beach Arts Commission, Laguna Beach Beautification Council, and is currently President of First Thursdays Art Walk. She has been an active and enthusiastic contributor to the creative ecosystem in Laguna Beach for more than thirty years and is thrilled to be able to bring her leadership, management style and attention to detail to the projects with Laguna Creative Ventures. With her role as a part of the Laguna Creative Ventures team, she is taking on the VP/GM position for Terra Laguna Beach, Seven7Seven, and Kitchen in the Canyon.
Evan is a writer and editor in Southern California and teaches Art History at Laguna College of Art and Design, California State University, Fullerton and Riverside City College. She is currently heading the Media & Communications department for Laguna Creative Ventures, bringing her attention to detail and her gift with words to the artistic city of Laguna Beach. She is the former Editor-In-Chief of Culture Magazine and Inland Empire Weekly, and she has worked as the Assistant Editor for YAY! LA Mag, and in 2010 she co-founded the independent arts journal, Rogue Arts. Her Master’s Thesis and first published book, Cement Sanctuary: Contemporary Street Art in Los Angeles (2011) has helped establish her as an expert in contemporary street art and alternative art movements. Evan has contributed to a number of books on art, including TMRWLND: The Secret Stays Unknown - The Art of Dereck Seltzer & Tina St. Claire (2016), Seeing the Invisible (2015), Yarn Bombing L.A., and many art catalogues. In 2013, Evan was an Artist-in-Residence at Grand Central Art Center, during which she produced a documentary called Life of a [Female] Artist with Ingrid Reeve. She has contributed as an arts writer for KCET Artbound, OC Art Blog, ArtVoices, OC Register, OCR Magazine, Beautiful Bizarre Magazine, Art and Cake, Artillery Magazine, Local Arts, Beauty & Wellness Magazine, Laika, Unite4:Good, and E-VOLVED Magazine. Past publications also include ArtScene, Juxtapoz, and Art Ltd.
Karyn Philippsen’s multi-faceted career encompasses over thirty years experience including the hospitality industry, with an emphasis in customer service for the luxury market. She played a major role in the success of such properties as Montage Resort & Spa, the Surf & Sand Resort in Laguna Beach, and was a key player in the opening of the world-class five star Ritz Carlton - Laguna Niguel. As an influential and active community leader, Karyn has served on several non-profit boards including the acclaimed Laguna Playhouse. She currently serves in her ninth year as elected president of the Laguna Beach Visitors & Conference Bureau. Karyn has served in management positions at NBC Studios and the Anaheim Orange County Visitors and Convention Bureau. Karyn earned her CMP (Certified Meeting Planner) designation in 1995. Karyn received the President’s Award and Supplier of the Year from MPI (Meeting Professionals International), was acknowledged as five-time Manager of the Year, and was awarded “Leadership Visionary of Laguna Beach” in 2003. Karyn’s understanding of domestic and international markets, and her innate ability to influence and communicate with people at all levels, makes her a well-respected leader and strategist.
